Noticed on the recent Hydrofoil Pro Tour equipment list that the top five riders all had Mike's Lab foils.
Any photos, descriptions, or are they still top secret?
What ever they look like, they must be very fast.

Custom built only and can barely keep up with sponsored riders. He is researching partnerships to move to production but nothing confirmed. Some riders on the list are not sponsored by Mike, just riding older prototype foils.
What makes a good racing foil does not necessarily translate to a good all round free ride foil.

15 out of 45 riders were on his gear. If not, looks like they were on Levitaz, Taaroa, or Spotz, but comparer to last year almost nobody is on Spotz.

Remember its a development class. In any development class sport the top athletes/drivers/whatever are going to want to ride prototype and customised gear. If Mikes Lab goes into full production you can still be sure the top riders will be riding protos. Personally I'm glad there are guys concentrating on this boutique stuff so that the spinoffs trickle down to the weekend riders. But I bet if you put all these guys on any good foil from any of the major players the results would still stack up the same.

Man everything this guy touches is fast. A good development process is clearly in place...I was a little saddened.when the foil revolution came in as mikes lab had done so well with formula boards....so cool to see the little builders tearing it up..again....

Why the super short lines on the foil kites?

Foil bridle is ~6m so 15M lines is still 21M key to bar distance...
1. You can fly a bigger kite with shorter lines and this helps for downwind legs.
2. Less line slack on transitions.
3. Plate effect flying big kite close to water surface.

Ah yes, forgot about the massive bridles. What is the "plate effect"? That kinda like ground effect?
