Someone just told me that the new NKB foil will be sold at around EUR1400 including board.
The quoted price of EUR850 for foil only must be right then.

Cheaper than expected.

Interesting that North, as well as Axis, have abandoned tuttle in favour of plate mount.

+1 for tracks and plate system. It seems like a lot of manufacturers are converging towards this setup which is great for consumers. It gives us all many more options to upgrade and mix and match foils and boards. Glad to see this industry trend.

Don't think plate mount is a trend. North has made a complete 180 degrees turn with their foil design and price point so no reference there. Most long established kite foil manufacturers still use tuttle/KF box and all the windfoil and sup/surf foil use it too.

It s hydrodynamically superior, lighter, easier to assemble and transport . If only they could all agree on one standard...

The Plate mount is pretty much the go to solution for freeride foils. It has major advantages and is actually the most compatible.

Thanks to the 165x90mm spacing being the standard and being able to adjust the position it is the most versatile system as it means that any plate foil can be installed on any Board. Also No Volume boards are becoming more popular again and these can only mount plate system foils.

The fact that RRD, Naish, Axis, Slingshot, Takuma and a lot of other brands buy/produce their Mast/Plate from/at the same factory also means that you can now use the Fuselage wing sections of the new Slinshot Foils on an RRD Mast for example. That is pretty cool in regards to getting spare parts etc.

Tuttle will probably stay the go to system for Race foils, but I predict that Tuttle, KF and Pro Box systems will die out in the next few years on the freeride foils.

Is tuttle faster to assemble than plate? Shouldn't both bolts be completely screwed/unscrewed?

Modern plate mounts feature sliding rails and cuts for bolt holes. You don't have to completely screw/unscrew the bolts and they can be left attached to the nuts after disassembly. Assembling is just slide the bolts into the openings and turn them 360 or so degrees until required torque. Disassemble is just as easy: turn bolts just enough to loosen them and slide out of the holes.

Time will tell, but kindly disagree. Having an adjustable mast track is nice but what's the point? Aren't foot straps adjustable too and most freeriders I know ride strapless anyway.
KF box can also be fitted on any board as they have 3 different kinds, inside (4cm thick), middle (2cm thick) and out. US mast tracks require minimum 3cm thickness for the board.

The fact that RRD, Naish, Axis, Slingshot, Takuma and a lot of other brands buy/produce their Mast/Plate from/at the same factory simply means that they put 0 effort in developing those products. All these late comers into the sport will slowly but surely develop their own designs and then compatibility will be history.
No matter who prevails at the end it would be nice to have just one standard. What's stoping the race foils from also using the plate?

Actually. Some of the best Race foils are still using tracks. Moses Comet, Levitaz Bionic and Banga (1m+ Plate Adapter).
Adjusting with the tracks is better than moving strap position as moving the straps along the deck does not quite have the same effect as moving the foil as most boards have rocker. Also the Outline and bevels on race boards have an optimum strap position that works best for them, so moving your straps around can give you issues.
