I just had my first session on Tuesday. My first attempt I didn't even stand up, fell on the rail of my board, crashed my kite and got washed to the beach, took 10 minutes to untangle my lines..... I knew from that point on it was not going to be easy. Every attempt I figured something out and by the end of the session I was getting 10-50 yard long rides. I spent about 1.5 hrs then took an hour break and went back out for another 1.5hrs.
A few things I learned day 1:
Move your back foot forwards about 4 inches from normal stance
Take off slightly facing slightly downwind then edge into the wind
Don't try to lift up on the nose of the board at all
Waves suck
Pick good steady wind conditions
Don't crash your kite
Switch stance (nonnatural stance) is waaaaaaay easier
Watch out for sharks (see video)
I am considering moving then placement of the mast back about 2-4 inches on the board to make a more natural stance and decrease the amount of nosedives
I didn't realize it until afterwards but on my first session I was being chased by some type of small shark and he actually grazed my foil causing me to fall. Check it out. Good luck!
