alpine foil answer...
Just marketing BlaBla, sorry, no problems with alpine, but I think what they really wanted to say is:
"We had always these pointy noses as it looks so fast, but now as it is seen to be just a bad idea, we are just afraid of telling our clients that it was a bad idea.... so we keep it ... "
Just to give you another example from the brand I am riding:
Levitaz had this curved backwing called "bionic" which should have the form of curved elbow joint of a birds wing ... but the bird does not have this elbow as it makes it flying better in static mode, but because it want's to be able to sit down afterwards and fold down its wings. Because it looks silly sitting in your nest on your eggs with your wings unfolded
And also the airliner and fighter aircraft does not have a nose because it flies better, but because they need a tailplane / stabiliser and a counterbalance for its weight, as they don't have a strut and a surfboard above ...
Bionic and to copy details from other constructions is a great idea, but just when their solution have something to do with your problem, the rest is marketing BlaBla.
But to save Alpine:
I think he refers to those rustic last train hopper constructions as Cabrinha, Naish, LF are using. In these cases a elongated nose for sure would improve flow of current, but this threat is talking about up to date 2017 foils.
