I forgot another super important thing about using the Carver wing on a SUP. The standard connection from mast to the plate is not strong enough. It will bend the screws and damage the mast and plate. We used the new Windsurf Plates which have a high sleeve that holds the mast.

I now exclusively ride the MHL Surf foil when I am kiting. I haven't used it on a SUP yet, but is a similar size to GoFoil. I use it in combination with a 28 inch mast, which is great in Florida to get through the surf.

I have had fast foils before (Slingshot Ghost Whisper), but I much prefer riding something slow and stable. It can still ride 30 km/h upwind. Another advantage is that it has a an extreme low end (can get started at 6-7 kts), and is also much easier to handle in high winds.

Hi Gunnar,

Very interesting to see that you use SUP and surf foils like the Takuma and the Gofoil for lessons.
I think you're probably one of the first to do it but see a future in this for sure as it will make everything way safer.

Taught a couple of friends to foil on the Cabrinha 2016 Double agent and even for expierenced kiters i'd say its dangerous.
Even though that is for sure the most unstable foil i've ridden myself.

How's the take of speed and top speed on those foils ?
I guess since the foil is slower it will be way easier to control since the kite will fly faster than the foil and can move forward in the wind window easier when too powered.

And which one has your preference for SUP and which one for kiting ? Probably you're one of the few people on the world that has experience on both :)

Very curious to see your take on it as i'm looking for a Surf/Sup foil for me , and the fact of teaching my wife to foil with it without the added dangers is a big bonus as well !

A comparison +kiting insights on them might even be an idea for one of your vlogs :)

Hi Hendrik,

The Top speed I have gotten on Th Go Foil with a kite (ReoV4) is about 22 knots. Which is more than fast enough for a foil like this.

At the moment I use the Go Foil "Kai" the most when SUPfoiling. If the waves are really small, the Takuma is a bit easier to get flying.

For Kiting my quiver looks like this at the moment:

Racing: Banga

Wave: GoFoil

Freeride: Moses Fluente

Jumping: Moses Comet

Great info Gunnar!
I second that! Great info Gunnar.

Gunnar - might you be getting a Maliko foil?

Also, The Kai foil seems to be very floaty. Does that help when kitefoiling it or is it a bit of a problem?
And - if the SUP foils take off at very low speed, what board size suits them for kitefoiling?

Yes. I am getting them in, but unfortunately they have sold out already, so will not have one for myself with this order :-(

I think any board suits them really. I personally ride my 120cm stubby. For teaching I use the Zeeko AirRace. Luckily the Air race has the tracks far enough back for the Go foil. It needs to be really close to the back of the board (right under your back foot position like a Mikes Lab).

That is Slingshots Surf Foil. not a kitefoil.
Wrong.. Laitham has been using his normal kite foil and just started using the windsurf wing. He can make both work. The surf wing won't be available until Fall. Lately he's been using the Lift Foil.

Wow i'm surprised you manage to do 22knots on the gofoil, crazy considering the thickness of the wing as displayed in the picture !

How do you rate it for waveriding vs the spitfire? i thought that would be your favorite for riding waves !

And then maybe a question for all : I've seen you use an adaptor to mount a foil with tuttle box on a track system for plate's, and pro's seem to use it as well a lot of times.
Yet they are nowhere to be found online ! anyone got any leads on this ?

Cheers guys ! there is some good info in this thread !!
