It is a standard (high modulus) 100 cm mast.

I think it is the 118 cm board and small kite that gives the impression the mast is longer :naughty:

Which Foil you have in that setup?

Yesterday (where the first posted picture is from) I had the Ketos wave wing (KF 500-570 Wave) at first when almost 25 knots, but then the wind dropped shortly after, and instead of rigging bigger, I took my big Ketos wing which is 805 cm2 (KF 650-805) and it worked pretty fine now in maybe 20 knots wind only, with the 3.5 m2 kite :D

SH1.jpg
This 805 cm2 wing is not available anymore, but replaced with the Freeride2 wings (Standard and XL) which are 700 and 880 cm2, or the new Wave XL @ 790 cm2 and really fast turning.

Only time I don't like foiling in big swell is when it's parallel to my upwind tack cause my foil will pop out when leaning hard for jumping speed. Other than that it's a great 40ft jumping conditions with a 10m or an 8 in the winter

and today i drove 45 min south after work to scope out a spot that would work on foil. It was 20-25 knots and a 300 m walk out through shallow water in side on wind. No one was out. tricky self launch. So i packed it in and drove to another spot on south coast that would have worked but it was a tricky place with hidden rocks and if you had trouble next stop Bornholm in mid baltic. would have done it with company...drive back north 45 min and went out on 9m with surfboard in full onshore small waves over powered. Had fun.
I dont think i could have foiled on my 7m kite, i would have been powered on the surfboard.

So today- i probably could have used that 5m kite.

You guys dont really understand what 20-25 knots onshore in the western baltic and sound regions of southern sweden look like. A 1,5 m wind swell is totally unorganized and just total confusion. Basically its just giant chop.

PF you are on 3,5m kite in 20-25 knots ? then i should def not go out on a 7m kite...like i said im fully powered on my 7 in 20-25 knots and surfboard.
wondering if a 5 is small enough....

Yes, cold winds are much more powerful. Once it hits a steady 20kts, I'm on my 3.5m Cloud - and that's in warm, sunny Australia. I weigh 81kg. Sounds like a new small kite is on your shopping list.

Today was roughly 25kt to 27kt here. At a gusty 27kt I was at first powered on surfboard with 6M.. Once I became just slightly underpowered it was perfect foil time. Maybe 25. Nice little marching swells to play around in. At end wind picked enough for twin tip but I was out of time. That's the typical 1 kite 3 board session for variable winds. Foil in higher wind can be fun... And it can also nicely cut through chop.

I dont have the same experience...

When the wind is just on the light side for a waveboard, I find the same kitesize on a foilboard is too big.

In short: I see two kitesizes difference from waveboard to foilboard, so changing back and fourth if the wind goes up and down during the day, is a no no for me - I have to rig two different sizes and THEN I can change (also use different linelenghts anyways) if I want to change back and fourth, even if the wind changes a bit.

Meaning in the same wind the difference waveboard-foilboard for me is typical 6-4 m2 8-5 m2 10-6 m2 which is two kitesizes difference, not only one

Hej guys, thanks for your insights and personal experiences.
I'm still a noob, but getting out in more varied conditions, but playing it safe.

Peter, you're years ahead of me. But considering my experience and knowing I need to fly a kite more conservative ( as noob) on foil, if I want to go out in 20-25, do you think I should get a Mono 5m? I can also get a Mono 3,5 or Neo 4 or a Ozone Uno 4 or Ozone Reo 4.

As it stands now, I'm on a 12 in 8-14 knots, the 9m 14-18, the 7m 16-20.
I'm wondering if the 5 is small enough...
Very much want to maximize my time on the foil.
