Any ideas to put the plate mount ....

Postby francis luengo » Mon Jul 03, 2017 6:27 pm

Can anyone explain me how to fix the screws in the board rails ?
I think if the screws are temporaly fixed is easier to mount the mast with plate mount.

I would use a little silicon caulking on each T nut to hold it in place. This stuff is widely available and is also sold as silicon bathtub caulking in small tubes.
If you change your mind later you can cut it away with a sharp blade.

Ideal would be tee nuts with a little leaf spring attached - these exist but I nver saw one in marine brass or Stainless steel....

yes I know ...I wanted to say tee nuts sorry.
But you can fix the screws in the tee nuts and then fix in the rails , so is easier to mount the mast plate every time only with outside
nuts.

For sure the tracks give a board a lot more versatility for pairing well with any plate mount foil. Having to fiddle with moving hardware every time to get it right is likely a pain compared to having at least two of em stationary for the newer open ended plates. I would for sure non permanently "pot" the front ones in somehow to make daily assembly that little bit nicer.

Why not placing a small piece of harder foam ?

BTW this are awesome t-nuts, where can we buy them? I'm using North track nuts but man they expensive.

I was thinking about bands of camping or gym mat (EVA type) cut to slightly bigger dimension :
- width = rail inner dimension
- length = 1 piece fore and 1 piece aft each T-nut
