F-One 800 foil turned to mush in one session

Postby RhoneF » Sat Jul 08, 2017 9:18 pm

Hey guys
I just got back from my first session with my brand new F-One 800 Hybrid foil and it was well successful for about an hour with great riding. I started feeling very unstable on port tack after a while, and it just kept getting worse and worse. I came back to the beach and was shocked to see the main wing of the foil was no longer perpendicular to the mast! it was bent about 20˚ off. I felt it and for sure, it was lose in the socket of the mast, and rotated a good 20˚ over either side. there was no vertical/horizontal movement because of the shaft screw holding the foil together, but when I took the shaft out, the wing started bending as if the carbon fitment turned to soft rubber!! I don't dare trying to pull the foil apart becasue it looks as if it will just crumble. its as if the carbon just soaked up the water and turned to mush.
Absolutely BS, I am going to go try get the dealer I bought it from to sort me out, but knowing how people on this island work...
No doubt it was the smoothest damn ride I've had on a foil. but disappointing for a 2000$ foil.
As far as I can see there is nobody online with this problem, but if anyone knows F-One foils, id like to hear your views!
Regards, Rhone

So you haven't even checked in with the dealer who sold it to you but start complaining online already? Faux pas, I think you know what that means.

Im sorry I upset you because of my account of my first experience of a brand new product, I was not complaining about the dealer, brand, or anything, just surprised about 2000 bucks flying out the window on day one.

I had the bolt tight yeah and no I didn't hit anything, pretty deep waters.
Here I put the bolt back in and it can still twist a bit, if I take out the bolt, the foil can bend downwards but I don't want to break it before the shop opens on Monday.

How are the wingtips?
If defective and not run aground, the wingtips will be intact.
Show us a picture of the wingtips.
Honestly it looks like the wing was torqued really hard to do that unless they used bad materials in the mating parts of wing and mast...
If defective, c'est merde!

Maybe it's a new model that's only supposed to go hard upwind starboard?

I've heard about somebody who lost a F-One hydrofoil wing while riding. The screw simply went out. I wouldn't buy this brand for hydrofoil. There are too many parts in their fuselage design.
