Zeeko Mini Pocket

Postby fabsix » Tue Jul 11, 2017 9:21 pm

Hey all,

has anyone of you experience with the Zeeko Mini Pocket Board?

https://vimeo.com/154368295

Looks like a lot of fun. Does a Moses Fluente 2017 foil fit without any modificiations?

Is it much harder to ride than a larger foil board?

Zeeko website lists board as out of stock. However they note:
NEW MINI POCKET BOARD SHOULD BE AVAILABLE AROUND 2017 SEPTEMBER

Will this be a new design or just the same board?

Thanks for your feedback.

Fab

Hey,
Im riding the mini pocket..
Great board, low weight and never nosedives due to great nose scoop..
Wouldn't recommend to a beginner foiler due to small size, but i use it for wave riding - super responsive and due to small size easy to throw around at any angle and lean into carves.. For lightest winds(sub 8 kt) i prefer a bigger board..
Using zeeko green and white and carver

Hi Fab,

I love this board, but no, the Moses will not fit on it as the inserts have the old zeeko spacing (145x85mm). You would need to widen the holes diagonally. The new one will probably have the 165x90mm spacing, but I am just guessing here.

It is more technical to get up and foiling and works a lot better with decent power in the kite. It takes some time getting used to it. It has very little nose kick (scoop) so will nosedive pretty easily on you if you weight your front foot too much before take off.

The old Zeeko spacing is 160 x 85, if I am not mistaken...

This is a very special board to me. It just really works. Kinda flat but I find it to handle touch downs just fine and to not pearl under due to width in the nose. I can't wait to see the new model. I hope it is as good because I need two with one for back up.

Looks like the foil is mounted too far forward on it. Its wasting a good 10-15 cm of board length that could be on the nose helping with touch downs.

One could do that yes, and it would have this benefit no doubt.

But in my experience it would hurt low end riding and starting somewhat.

Having some area behind your rear foot helps balancing and riding when down on the water, so you can ride this way when very little kitepower, and get up foiling earlier.
And no, you can NOT just step forward - this helps floating around, but having to move back when you are about to get up is not as smooth/good.

Of course it will be worse at touchdowns then - but there is always a price, and as others said, it is not a beginner board.

Looks really fun and performing, meaning good balance when not foiling so it starts earlier.

I thought that at first.i had to use it a few times before I put my skim board traction pads down. As with most thing Zeeko designs it just works really really well.

I was using it yesterday with my new Naish Boxer 10m and noted how the board has rocker from tail to nose rather than a flipped up nose.

Hi all,

thanks for your valuable feedback, specially for the heads up regarding the spacing.

I contacted Zeeko, what the 2017 spacing will look like.

"your plate spacing could fit the next mini pocket production as we will make US rails boxes connexion."

So let's see. September comes soon.

Have fun

My new Zeeko Mini pocket. Just as lite with pad. Slightly thinner nose outline. More nose scoop and rail boxes. Need some wind.

Got it from KitesurferRO kitesurferstore
