Got the package. Wings are OK.

My main dilemma is how to connect collar to the mast? As you see there are 2 mysterious holes in the collar, but the mast has no holes. The supplied hardware includes only 5 screws+nuts to connect wings, so those holes are just dummies.

I'm going to wrap the mast head in fibercloth, sock it in the resin and glue it to the collar. Hopefully, this whole thing won't detach, fall down and sink.

P.S. The weight is <3.2 kg

Cool! That was fast for shipment....I guess the extra shipping $ means it is airmail, not the "slow boat from China".

Wings look good. Will be curious to hear how they fly.

Did you contact the seller about the mast connection? That is a pretty significant omission. The resin cloth option seems a bit sketchy. I don't have experience in it, but seems like the right thing to do is drill vertical holes and insert something like a heli-coil, so you can thread a screw in. Ask one of the pros on builders thread what the proper install involves.

Or maybe just epoxy the mast and plate together forever. (Rough up both surfaces first.)

I would want a good fillet of epoxy/structural filler/fibers with some layers of fabric, preferably carbon, over it, overlapping 50mm at least onto both plate and mast, if gluing it together. Not too hard a job, and should help keep it together and resist torque.

If don't trust glue/epoxy and going for permanent bond, like forever, could maybe also drill bolt through horizontally, through mast and the collar. Use low profile collar bolts (aka sex bolts). Maybe overkill, but won't be worried about dropping your foil to the sea bottom. Or maybe it floats!

IKEA is the right word. Responsible for demise of some fine furniture chains, such as Levitz.

Drilled wider plate holes to reuse LF ones (there seems to be no plate to board connector screws in the package). Epoxied the collar.

5 kg. flex test next.

I'm liking it!

Does the fuselage have inserts for the wing screws? If so are they steel or brass?

Any chance of more detailed pics?

Good job Teg...shi.

I contacted the seller to suggest he might want to try selling wings separately, may be some buyers (since the mast connections now sound suspect). He didn't bite.

But did point out there's now another one posted on there that's painted black and is slightly cheaper at $299.

Wings are connected with bolts in threaded inserts:

This fits into the holes in fuselage -- seems pretty solid connection to me. (I wonder if it is a good idea isolating two carbon surfaces with say plastic shim, or duct tape. Or sanding the adjacent surfaces, at least).

BTW, even by IKEA standards there has to be hex wrench there (I didn't find any). Of course, any handyman has plenty, so this is like first-world problem. Also, don't expect Apple level packaging either -- I incidentally scratched main wing with scissors when fighting messy package wrapping
