It is marketing trumping the law of physics: "We cooked some magical shape that allows 600 cm^2 wing to have lower end than 800 cm^2 wing". (I guesstimated the Thruster area to be below 600 cm^2, it would be nice if somebody confirm/refute this number).
I measured the FW of the Thruster, it has about 635 cm2
The FW of the Rocketfoil/Foilfish measures about 880cm2

Has anyone meanwhile tested the Thruster?

Hi been riding the thruster foil for 2 months. About 15 sessions. Learnt on the rocket foil. Great improvement over the rocket foil. I find it easier to ride. More stable. At all speeds.
I think though the rocket would be easier to learn on. You can ride the rocket around with out engaging the foil. By having the mask mounted all the way towards the back of the board. And with all your weight over your front foot. I did this for the first few session to get a feel for this foil thing mounted below the board. The rocket foil is more pitch sesnsitive. So it is easier to put the board back down on the water when learning. And has a lower top speed.
The thruster on the other hand spits you right onto the foil straight away. (And I have the foil mounted all the way back too.) So you better have your shit together.
Here is a video from the other day. Marking my 12 month anniversary of foiling. Slowly getting the hang of it.

There is a lot more to the physics than surface area. Shape and thickness also factor into this. The Thruster wing is thicker than the Rocket foil wing.

Thanks for sending the video kitehume. Videos and reviews on the Thruster have been hard to find even from the shops. I'm going to probably pull the trigger on a thruster foil this spring. I'm going to take the risk of learning on the thruster as well, but I'll be putting a lot of time behind a boat until I have a feel for it before going behind the kite.

I did see that lake when flew over to Melbourne from Syd, did not know we can kite on the water reservoirs? Not in WA, as I understand :(

Flat wings simple suck for learning and in most cases well into the future.
Just have a look at most other brands to see their wing designs.
Success leaves clues!
We years ago tested the exact same wings both flat and not, hands down F wings AND R wings offer MUCH more stability
with elements of curve, wing tip angles.
I Would wager any amount to anyone that in a blind test wanting a user friendly KBHF for learning that flat wings would loose EVERY time!

No restrictions on this lake. All water activities allowed. Just no house boats.

Here are some photos I took. I hope to take it out on the water in a couple of weeks. The thruster front wing is considerably thicker than the happy foil front wing - bigger lift coefficient?

Great pictures.
Those wings look very similar to the Zeeko Spitfire XLW wings.
