Best Foilboard for Travel

Postby RadDrDuke » Sat Oct 07, 2017 4:08 pm

What board is the smallest and/or lightest for traveling?

I have a kite golf-bag but seems all these foilboards are too wide.

Other option is just mount to a skim and unbolt for the travel since skims/boogie boards travel free generally

I have taken two flights with my Nobile Master bag with no extra charge form the airlines.
On it I had my Nobile Infinity foil Split Board, Moses Fluente 2017 foil, Harness, 2 kites and t-shirts.
About the board, I initially bough it for traveling, but after removing the back strap I am using it as my main foil board.

If you can, I would invite you to try it.

What is "too wide" ???

Many pocket boards used, Zeeko and Ketos t.ex, are 46 cm wide, is that too much ?

I bought a Nobile Foil Skim for traveling, it works very nicely as a foil deck and covers me for when the wind increases too.

Naish Hover 130 is not wide - I bought it for that travel reason - fits fine in a golf bag as is smaller than a twin tip

Size is 130 x 42 - according to Naish

RadDrDuke, we need to know what too wide is for you ?

Even my board for 5 knots is "only" 48 cm wide.

But if you need boards say 36 cm max, then it is superwide indeed.

slingshot Dwarfcraft 54 is a good size fits in NSI Deceiver with another skimboard and 2 kites. The 54 also doesn't limit surface transitions and handles touchdowns pretty well.

Assume 54 inch is the lenght, which is 137 cm, but what is the width ?

I'm quite keen on my Nobile Infinity Zen Split Board. Board and foil works great, converts to a surfboard, and you can fit the board / foil / 2 kites / bars in the supplied roller suitcase.

I've happily used the Cabrinha Double Agent board for travelling. At 145cm, it fits in a TT wheelie bag that is easy to travel with (and not overtaxed). The option to ride it with fins and without the foil allows to extend the range and match the various conditions you're likely to meet. Note that I had drilled two extra holes so that it could accommodate the Zeeko foil plate, providing the best of both worlds.
