LF Rocket Foil mount position

Postby matanshapira » Sat Oct 21, 2017 8:15 am

2 first sessions completed
Can fly on the foil for 10 seconds.
Mast is mounted almost all the way back on the Happy Foil board track.
Riding with single front hook only.

Where should I mount the foil next? where do most foilers mount it? Middle of the track?
I want to continue tuning it from the typical position.

Some riders like back foot pressure, others like front foot pressure. With 2 sessions only you cant tell the diference yet, just keep riding until you get better.

I use 2 foot hooks (front and back) so my feet are always in the same position. I put the foil right at the back and I use the forward back hole positions so my back foot is over the front of the mast. I find it easier if it takes effort to foil up so you dont dolphin as much.

My preference is for when you're riding at a "cruising speed", i.e. not trying to go fast, but up and riding along, I try to have roughly equal weight on both legs. Even 1 or 2cm can make a big difference, so you can try moving it forward a bit and see how it feels. It might make it easier to keep the board in the air if you get the balance right, if it's too far back you'll have to use a lot of back foot pressure which can be awkward.
