Graceful Dismount

Postby OzBungy » Mon Jan 08, 2018 1:29 am

I've got most of foiling under control and can have a nice dry session. So far so good.

When I get back to the beach I drop down on my backside and hold the board out to the side with my feet. It is effective, but not very elegant. At sandy spots I can ride in to knee deep water and drop off with no real fear of damage or injury.

I have been experimenting with dropping off onto my feet and catching the board with my hand. This puts the foil at risk from hitting the bottom, and me at risk with bashing myself on the board and the bottom. I am limping today after after my foot pounded into the sand last night.

Any suggestions on how to get off gracefully at the end of a session, save the board and me from damage, and stay mostly dry?

No. But I did see a how to vid from horue on how to do a beach landing. The guy flipped the board up when he jumped caught it and landed on the beach and walked away.
