Moving from heavier to lighter foil

you really haven't experienced the fun of hydrofoiling until you try faster and lighter gear.

Flew a 7.5 k the other day like my older DIY foils, wow what a heavy experience!
My 4.3 is such a joy!
Lighter is better, PERIOD, at least for free flying!

Moving to a lighter/faster foil will certainly make a difference. I have ridden the hover glide with alien air and I now ride a Moses Vorace foil on a levitaz exo board. Very light setup. What I noticed when riding the Moses back to back with the hover glide is the lack of drag on the Moses. A smaller board is definitely more playful but there is less margin for error in tacks and gybes.

More -- a proper Clydesdale. I can only imagine that SUP wings for me are what it's like for the Falabellas to ride a normal sized kite foils.

Personally, I experienced little to no loss is "playfulness" (may have gained some) and gained so much more in smaller kites used, more stability and better unpowered coasting.

I think this depends on your riding conditions. If it is mostly flat water and light conditions then only a racing kit will really make it exciting. But if you have some swell/waves, then there are a ton of options that will really increase the fun factor over your HG.
