First production set under 1k, would be keen to see if anybody else used it.

Yes but that's only the foil. Spleene has a complete set with the board included under 1k.

Great to see foiling becoming more accessible.

Here is another sub1k option with board.

Speene in the video below looks like flexing a lot to me (and not the nose... maybe the chimed rails create this visual...)
He did not comment it but he seemed a bit positively biased. Critic only at minor points...

Middle of the road new Twin Tip - $500
Spleene Hydrofoil setup - $1000

Would you pay 2x the money to have 10x the sessions? Seems like a total no-brainer for all the #NeverFoil folks.

Hi dr511
No, it is not for sure.

There is at least https://www.kitesyndikat.de/kite-shop/h ... iofoil-set
Who sells since more than a year cheaper than 1 k€ and now below 900 €.
And there are for sure many more as for example this one: http://www.foilsurf.net/
And if you put a wakeskate yourself on top of some alu profiles you maybe can get easily under 500 € .... there will always be a cheaper bitch behind the next corner, if you are willing to accept the smell and risk

The questions more important for me would be:
1. Do you go to take your time for sport to use the most basic equipment possible?
2. Why do you never see videos with anybody doing real funny stuff with those things, apart from going straight with a normal size kite...? Is it hard to do with those things or hard to find a skilled rider who is willing to use them?
3. It is easily possible to have fun with not high end and alu Equipment. But shouldn't be the question: What is the best value for Money foil?

I think BWD was already close to answer last question.

For some time Greg was riding the most basic LP foil, the shovel style... (before the stringfellow wings)
... and he was not going in a straight line for sure

And the double agent is probably the most basic (sic) of the foils out there...

All board and kite combinations have there own kind of playfullnes. On a foil you can discover everything new again. And thats what keeps the sport interesting. Every kiter will hit a ceiling sooner or later on what they can perfrom on a twintip. ( or directional) Especially with low winds. You van either buy a 15+ m foil kite or a hydrofoil. Next to that pleaces you wouldn’t really twintip like deep choppy lakes are great for Foiling. The good thing is that you don’t need to make a choice. I go wave riding when it blows over 25kts ( because we only have wind waves on the north sea) when the waves are small or i am driving near a lake and want to skip a traffic jam i go foiling. Every now and then in take a twintip. To wake up with sore knees 😎

Yes, think so too, as all foils have their individual compromisses and advances.

@Sandras:
Yes, Greg is actually just using the strut as a serial product, rest is individual shaped, but for sure also not to expensive. But I think for him the individual style and shape was the goal, not the cheapest equipment.

If you can do a handlepass, especially on a foil it is just about riders ability and has nothing to do with the performance of the foil, apart from the commercials for sure ;-)

In the US the only new set-up (2018, not NOS or something on sale) for under $1k that I could find was a combination of the Liquid Force Rocket foilboard at $449 and the Crazy Foil Jet H Pro hydrofoil at $499 (total = $948) Crazy Foil's base model Acrobatic H Pro hydrofoil retails for $399, but the wing design is much better on the Jet H Pro, so it's worth the extra $100 imo.

Andersson hydrofoils retail for $450. Manta's Mono kite hydrofoil retails for $595.
