Convertible surf board

Postby nothing2seehere » Thu Apr 19, 2018 9:09 am

I have had a few sessions on the OR Duke and as a freeride surf board its streets more fun than my shinn stubbo as a freeride board for when the wind picks up. I don't really want to have another board so I'm looking to get a convertible. No real waves here, just sloppy chop so don't need large wave ability.

Are there any that actually do the job well? I have seen the Slingshot Converter and the Airush Mini Monster. I'm riding a shinn foil so looking for a plate mount fitting and I'm not sure I want the snowboard construction style of the Zeeko/Nobile after seeing how much nicer the Duke rides (prepared to be wrong about this - its just a feeling I have).

Anything I might have missed on my list?

The convertible Mitu. I demoed that just as a surfboard and loved it. It comes in a KF box as standard. But, talking to the distributor, he said they would make one off Tuttle versions for people. No idea if they will still do that or if they'd do a plate.

Maybe you can get a plate to KFBox adapter ?

I have used this excellent adapter from Zeeko, on the spitfire, to fit on all my KFBox boards :thumb:

Anything I might have missed on my list?
Alpine CX-V6S
Arriba Arriba Double-D Adaptable
Axis Maroro Convert
F-One Mitu Convert
Levitaz Transformer
Takuma BX

I'm more partial to Channel/Plate mounts verses Tuttle, KF, and ProBox mounts, so the Airush Mini Monster 4'10 or 5'2, Levitaz Transformer 5'3, Ss Converter 5'4, and the Takuma BX 5'4 would be the highest on my list.

Making a new one without front foot pad. Board is perfect otherwise

The Zeeko Slash is worth a look. Especially at a 50% discount.

I had one of the best downwinders of my life on this board. Foiled on it for about 2 hours until the thermal kicked in. Swapped the foil for some fins and then had an awesome downwinders in the waves.

It is a bit bulky for foiling compared to a dedicated foil board and a bit heavy for a surfboard but is a nice one board quiver.

It does look interesting. Looks like only the surf version is left on sale at the moment.
