Kind of the opposite to Pansh for me. Little investment big returns :-) I love light wind, glass waves in 8knots, heaven.

Going at the end of the week to a 10 day holiday kitecamp, so I only had less than 2 weeks to get a kite (build), and the choice was the FRS in ultralight, we will see how it works or not :naughty:

Hi Peter

Did you get your FRS kite yet? Have you tried it? My wife is telling me to just buy one so I stop going over the pros and cons already! Apparently I am obsessing over this...

No, there was not time to get it made before the event unfortunately...

So took my 11 m2 ELF racekite instead, difficult to keep flying but can just ride in 5-6 knots with 30 m lines when everything clicks.

Right now we rarely have so little wind as back then in the summer, so might wait and see which UL foilkite I would go for, and maybe more options will come.

Have just bought a 13 m2 (and an 11) Storm Voyager 2019 that will come soon, and it might be perfect over the winter where swimming with a downed foilkite and packing it up in the icy water is not very healthy, so here I always choose LEIs because of that

So no, I havent got my own "extra" UL foilkite yet...

one video taken this summer by a boat with tourists when I was riding around them; locally the wind was really low
https://youtu.be/XgcSlogjNDg
tried also to ride "face foot" like on snowskis, which I love, but but not that easy in light for my level.

Great video to share, thanks. Nothing like light wind flying. Magical when it is so smooth.

If you can, what kite, board, HF, and body weight was happening in that video?

I have followed this thread with much interest so decided to post my experience.
Been foiling just over 12 months on and off.
In the last few months have become a fan of light wind.
So my consistent light wind experiences have been 7 to 8kn plus or minus.
My weight is about 75kg (72 yo) and gear for 7kn (but some lower lulls) to 10kn is a Cloud 10.4D kite and medium Naish foil on 70cm mast. Obviously dead flat water.
So this combination seems to be at least as good in light breezes as anything already posted.
Today less than 9kn mostly 7kn breeze and maxed at 15kn board speed.

Since we're talking about marginal wind kites, how would a large single skin kite function for hydrofoiling? Obviously if dropped in the water that is game over, but that's not unusual anyway in light winds. If it works at 5kts for snowkiting, how much more would be needed for hydrofoiling?

What is the weight of the 15m?
My 18m is 2,3kg and I learned foiling with it!
PERFECT!!!
I'm 80kg with Moses Onda.
