It is SO great - had a similar session yesterday in the lightest wind, till it faded away again.

Nothing beats these priceless sessions, they are in a league of their own somehow and difficult to explain, so many got no idea....

Low end hydrofoiling is truly amazing :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Sure it's interesting to see how far you can push the lower limits. I have done hundreds of these types of sessions landkiting for years and years and years. Sure i understand the zen of it. 'The seemingly impossible kite flying in near zero wind. It is a wonderous thing to behold at the time. But its still a slow desperation session. I would prefer any other type of wind than the ultra light wind. Bring on the noise i say. Give me 20-30-40+ knots any day of the week than this pathetic excuse for wind.

0kn on the beach as the wind started at least 5m from the ground due to the cold spring sea.
Yes that's why !! :thumb:
And you don't need always need a foilboard to experience that...XL door or LW directional works in mirror
If you have a big kite 17m & up and recognize the exceptional low water temp vs warm air flow it will happen for you too...just hot launch your kite and feel the power once the kite is up
Spring time is normally best time of year for those magic sessions
During hot summer with several days of light side shore wind it can cause an upwelling in the ocean...once water temp went from 88F to 70F overnight..cold sea made the low wind very dense
A session 8 years ago on SP3 21 & XL door mirror ocean...2 knot air movement at kite on sand..once up 9 knots...on the water more juice 14 knots..pulled 3m airs & had to pull the depower
Sorry no video... there was no one around... cause the wind was dead !!
No more ram airs for a while now but i do get about 3 of those special sessions a year with large LW inflato and LW quad surfb

Yes. Agree with you there is surely a big wind gradient at 5-10 meters but if it can illustrate what a marginal wind session feels like, that is great.

Wind was marginal up there, like 6-8kn but super stable.
