Agreed. Partly responsible. If the thread is turning into a conversion, let's move away from that and keep to the original subject.

Toby has never foiled ever what!!!!!? Toby you are missing out big time if you haven’t....boosting on foil compared to twintip is like driving a 1995 Ford pickup vs driving a BMW F80 M3 :D 5 times the fun..
remember, I am passed the point of just jumping, I am into tricks.

Yes, the jumping on a foil in light winds are incredible. But too limited for tricks.
I love my tricks with my small TT and big kite. I don't want a small kite with a bigger board.
Plus I hate jibing...kills the fun for me.

And that jibing thing is what also keeps away other people.

But as always...it is great to have many options in the sport...and seeing guys being stoked again to get on the water who kited for longer time and got bored, makes me happy too.

The best sport ever.
You are abit wrong here, you can keep using your normal (huge) kite with the foil, you will be able to hold more power with it (after the 1 year learning process) and most of the "airstyle" tricks you can do. Board also doesnt need to be big, and will probably be ligher then a TT, but with the foil together will be heavier ofc.
+1 totally agree I can hold lots of power down and there are lots of tricks to be done plus some that can’t be done on TT no excuses lol everyone was a beginner at foil at some point just get on it be the best decision you have ever made...ever I just wanna see Toby get hooked on foiling but I give up..lol and foiling is a bit religious :allbegood:

What I couldn’t believe is Richard Branson never foiled until challenging Obama to kite.

There are hardcore wakestylers, there are hardcore kitesurfboarders, hardcore racers. But. There are people who are up to anything good and better and would play having options.

Foiling is addictive but I wouldn’t reject a nice twintip jumping session in 25 knots on 9m. Or a downwinder with channel runs. Just as others love waves (where there are waves) or race (where there’s space to race)

On any given weekend at my local, there are maybe 6-8 foilers and 40+ other boards, mostly twin tippers. Those ratios change depending on conditions. When the wind hits 15kn, it’s usually just me and maybe one or two other guys foiling. By 18kn, unless the current is strong, there usually isn’t a foil out. I love foiling in high winds and tiny kites, but it is fun to mix in a twin tip session when the conditions are perfect for it.

It hit 20kn+ yesterday with astrononical high tide so lots of chop and current. Me on a foil and 5m kite and probably 18 twintippers and 2 on surfboards on 8-14m.

I have solo foiling sessions day after day after day. Lately it's been my Freeride foil and a 7m wave kite. A bit of a coast run to start with, blast downwind to the start, then play with the waves and work on the tacks.

Most people see a sub-20 knot forecast so they don't even watch the weather observations. Most of these days end up with a 20 knot sea breeze. They really have no idea what they are missing out on.

The nice part of having the water to myself is I can foil into the glassy inside section and have it all to myself.

If you’re thinking of transitioning to foiling or adding on, here’s a quick video to discuss that.
