Moses/Slingshot masts and foils like razor blades!

Postby SpaceRacer » Sun Sep 23, 2018 3:46 am

Almost sliced my thumb off today! Any way to completely file the mast and foil trailing edges down safely and effectively? If so how?

Yup. Just got an Onda....holy crap...all trailing edges extremely sharp.....

Just wrap 120 grit around a sanding block, then go for 400 grit....

Didnt seem to help with the Onda as its very thin toward all edges...rather scary...

Before they sharpened the the trailing edges they got complaints about the foil whistling because that's what you get with a rounded trailing edge. You can't please everyone as making them blunt in the factory makes it impossible for the foilers that want a sharp edge for maximum performance.

If you want to blunt them it is best to square the trailing edge off with 400-800grit., creating two 90deg angles that are less sharp and won't add too much drag.

Can anyone post a video of how to do this?

Do you run it the full surface area of the wind?

Does anyone else feel like these razor sharp edges are ridiculous? I think that first and foremost Moses has been a racing company and for this it makes sense. If racing nuts want that competitive "edge" that is up to them. But the crossover from these racing wings to free ride wings like for the 633 makes no sense. These masts and wings are simply too narrow and sharp. Sanding with 400 grit simply isn't going to do much. You fall onto your setup and vice versa free riding or surfing and you are going to bleed badly. I sent my Moses back and purchased another brand.
