Hello to everyone!
I´m new to hydro foils. I´ve just bought a Naish Hover 155, and I ´ll start to foil next weekend. I have doubts about the straps setup, If its better to install 2 straps in front, and 1 at the tail, or just 2 in front, or 1 in front and 1 at the back of the board, or only one in front.
Please, every suggestion will be aprettiated.
Thank you very much in advance!

I'm also new to hydrofoils. I'm using two front straps (board is very wide), I've never missed the back strap. I think you want to be able to let go of the board easily when you fall so I'd say no back strap. 1 or 2 front straps, no idea. I also think think the front strap(s) should be very loose, again so that you can get rid of the board easily. These are just my thoughts, there are lots here that will be able to give good advice.

Thank you very much Pemba for your help. My doubt is if only one front strap, is more difficult but is better to learn weight distribuition in order to learn better to foil. I also think that with two straps, will be easier...

Start with just 2 in front. It will help you to control the board going up and down. A few sessions later you can either add the 1 at the back or go completely strapless.
1 in front is imho complete BS. But anyway, depending on where the 1 in front sits you would have to bring also the mast forward, otherwise you have too much weight at the front.

I liked a single front foot hook to start. Just enough to position the board for waterstart but easy to escape.
While foothooks will breaks, they cost less than an ankle.

Similar in use and safety to a foot hook but without the breakage probems, is what we have called the mono strap.
It runs across the board, from the front strap outer holes. Due to its width it allows the foot to rotate out of the strap in a crash, rather than being locked in like a dual front strap can. The strap needs to be long, liquid force make a 13” long strap that works well and is very comfortable.
The yellow board has one fitted

Started foiling about 2 months ago, started with one front strap, switched (after 1.5 weeks) to a single front hook. In all the crashes, never any threat to my ankles. Foot starts and stays in the proper position for toeside.

I prefer 2 very loose front straps for a more comfortable stance and easy water start. None in the back much easier to let go of the board with no back strap also easier to find the perfect spot for your foot and to gybe.

I started, and still using after 1.5 years one very loose front strap. Makes water starts so much easier compared to no straps at all. And if I fall, the strap is so loose, foot won't stay on it. But have to try front hook some day, I bet it's better when trying to change stance
