Does anyone have any practical experience using a rail protection tape on a foam core hydrofoil board?
I see many of the SUP boards have this put on.
Just wondering how well it holds up on a hydrofoil board and if the slick clear or padded tapes work better.
I have seen some users using gorilla tape, but would prefer not to use that as I have a silver colored board.
The LaVentana beaches are more of a medium coral/gravel than sand and can scratch up a board easily.

I use clear polyurethane tape. Holds great for more than 2 years and does great job in protecting my rails.

Many Thanks. I found some polyurethane Helicopter tape that should work well. It should be able to hold up. Looks like some of the bike frame high Impact protective tapes may work also.

I am buying car bumper protection film (designed to protect from stone chips and scratches), 60 cm wide, cut to the desired length in the shop. It is much cheaper than the offered tapes (same material) and it is easier to be cut to the desired width (2-3 cm for thin foil boards or 5-6 cm for thicker ones). Very easy to apply. I have the same film on my SUP board holding for more than 5 years.

Spacestick Foil boards (made by Cush surfboards) has a protective skin over the entire board.
And the rails are coated in Urethane---liquid Skateboard wheels, basically......tough stuff
(fyi--Most have foil tracks----this one has inserts to mount the foil)

How did you apply this? Surprised it says on a surfboard

Interesting topic. I have a lot of problems with protecting my Alpinefoil board VR5. The paint of the Alpine is very fragile and I have tried various types of tape. Nothing seems to help.
These are photos of some damages after 6 months of use.

That looks like you have fibre glass tape like they use on cricket bats on there. I would have expected that to have worked. Interesting!

Yes is fibre glass tape from Tesa.
I always wear the Majestic X slider rope trapeze and no helmet. Still a lot of damage.
