F1 Diablo bridle check

Postby designrmi799 » Sun Apr 16, 2017 3:24 am

I plan on doing the bridle check on my 11m diablo 2016, as per Gunnar's video. I don't think F1 publishes the bridle dimentions.
So i looking for the lengths of A1, B1, C1. Any help would be appreciated
thanks Rex

Will contact the manufacturer to see if they can provide those dimensions, in the mean time check this out.The bridle speed system assembly on my Diablo 10m was different on each side so this helped (factory mistake).

Hi, if someone has dimensions for a 10m Diablo V1, I am interested for comparison.

One more thing: Do you guys also have two attachment points for the A bridle?

Attachment points A bridle
And has someone tried both?

My A's are also attached to the front loop. Possible less bar pressure on rear loop.??

Hi,
last time in very light winds i noticed that my Diablo V1 10m was producing a lot of power in downstroke but had no grunt for keeping me going.

So today I checked the bridles. The result was, it looked like the situation labeled #4 in the picture so I lengthened B, now it looks like #2.
Can anyone tell what's the difference in flying characteristics if you compare situations labeled #1,2 and 3?
From my understanding the profile is deeper for #2 so it should have more grunt compared to 1 or 3...

1 and 3 are essentially the same. Any difference in feel will be trimmed out. You'll notice no difference. 2 give a deeper camber. Though very exaggerated on the picture...again you'd probably notice very little difference....maybe a little more grunt but less speed if noticeable at all.

Thx

I'm with you that (almost) any difference between 1 and 3 will be trimmed out.

In my case B was 2cm shorter than A and C and is now 2cm longer than A and C (in other words I added 4cm), so I'm exited how much difference I will experience.

Report back. Be good to hear your experiences. 4cm difference is huge. So 2cm fro. The norm will make a difference. Might get some serious hang time but could stall early too. Keep us updated

A little late but better late than never:

I tried flying with B being 2cm longer than A and C (situation 2 in thre picture above). Result was that the kite collapsed very abruptly at changes of wind direction (but the wind at this particular spot was very gusty). Because the kite turned inside out I dropped it a couple of times but was able to restart it. Because of water inside and some explosive russian start I tore one brake line, which was the end of the session. To be more precise the line held but the attachment point was ripped out of the spinnaker material. (maybe that's another reason why Diablo V3 has more brake lines)

So at the moment I am back to A, B and C at equal length, which works well.

One more thing happened maybe at this russian start: Some of the mini battens at the air intakes are out of place. Anyone else experienced this? And are the any ideas how to fix this without opening the stitching and restitching afterwars?
