Ok. Chrono V1 is a wild beast. It brings the fire breathing dragon. Yes its less stable and more tip tucking if you fly it bad. It was the original depower race kite.R1 in is the second gen race kite. Its more stable and inflates better. Some reports have stated that R1 is not quite as fast as chrono V1.

Chrono V2 is a down tuned slightly lower aspect chrono. It has normal bridles rather than wafer thin bitches. Its more stable again and easier to fly by misses the firebreathing dragon.

As a Chrono V1 owner I have never had any issues with wing tip tuck other than when I made adjustments to the speed system and didn’t extend the Z line.
I have the 18m, 12m and the 9m. Pre-inflation is key for a successful launch pulling the brake handle may be necessary to inflate the wing tips.
I can’t even describe the technique for flying them, I just fly them.
Not sure the Chrono V1 deserves the name of a “wild beast” though. :-)
The Chrono V1 was the original race kite to which to the V2 and R1 is based, never flown a V2 or an R1 so not in a position to comment.

Flown the V1 12m once, and indeed a wild beast for sure! With not much foil kite experience basically not the kite to go for.
The V2 is stable, does not overfly, much more heavy (v1 12 is approx 2200gr) and does not have the same performance.
Flown the 9 and 13m of that.
Not a racekite. Should not have the Chrono name. I know people who ordered them blind with the expectation it would the next version of the Chrono V1...big disappointment. Strange marketing from ozone.

Having re-read the write up from Ozone again ;-) with respect to Chrono V1 it quotes “Light wind boosting machine that also excels in racing on the water, land or snow”.
It doesn’t specifically say it’s a race kite, but being a high aspect/high performance kite makes it ideal for such purposes.
The Chrono V2 is classified a freeride kite having a mid to high aspect ratio and differs from the Chrono V1 with respect to wing shape, bridle line, intake valves to name some changes.
The Chrono V2 is still a high performance foil and simply a more “user friendly” version of the Chrono V1
This information is readily available so there is really no need to make any assumptions before you buy.
