Tom have you considered the Switch Inifiti! Its has three strut stoke and nobody knows what size it is but its supposed to be cool in light winds! [/sarc]

Today I was out today in 11-14 knots on the 9m UL. 25 m lines with rear lines on correct knot.
It was sweet spot. No way near top end at 14 knots.
Messed up some toe to heelside gybes with down loop and totally slacked the lines and kite folding, but as soon as the tension is back in lines it recovers quickly while still flying on HF. That situation on my Mono would have resulted in falling off or kite jerking me off.
HL is drifting faster than Mono so it's easier to do kite up turn gybe.
There was some more power today on down loop, toe you heel side I just pointed board a bit more down wind to control power as kite loops around.
Going down wind on reach I just sheet in and pull kite back in window, keep kite low and it's way faster and controlled than the Mono.
Overall after 2 sessions, I'm finding HL easier kite than lei for Hf.

Today I was out with Levitaz Cruizer strapless and HL 9 fooling around in a mild windswell. When I went out it was 15 knots. This would be 7 or maybe 5 meter HL weather for me but I though it would be nice to try some more power. The wind picked up to 18g20 according to the iKite sensor. As it did the thought of pulling out the surfboard or twin tip crossed my mind, but at no time was I overpowered. I just would have enjoyed the smaller turning kite more.

Tom, have you had the chance to relaunch it yet? 95% of the time it will be easier than with LEI. But you might familiarize yourself with the ins and outs of relaunch before venturing too far.

I've ridden a surfboard a lot last 8 years. I'd not want to use a slow kite on one. So I'm keeping my North Monos as surfboard kite. The HL 12 surely is slow for a surfboard. And the Chrono will be more boosty on the TT?
My guess is both will be poor surfboard kites, but Chrono better than HL on the TT. Especially since you are experienced Chrono flyer!
Learn to surf waves with the kite parked, bigger foils can be so stable you can do proper cut backs with zero line tension, big bows in the lines.

I'm still struggling with the launch. I think pre inflation is imperative.
Launch from downwind.

Soul has a velcro butthole that I would prefer over the HL top skin zip.
Zips in topskin deflate kites much quicker, even if they are quite small. The problem with old flysurfer zips is they where so big. Long term though zips corrode and fail.

There has been reports of Ozone zippers freezing up as well.

I'm down wind launching now. No problems in 14 knots. It hardly pulls going up.

Today I dropped kite when wind died as I was in standing deep water. There was small windwaves and kite got water inside.
Yes, I must learn relaunch, thanks for highlighting that.

Today I was on 20 m lines. Really nice. Wind 10-15 knots, variable, not gusty. Others out on 12m struggling at times, but beginner hydrofoilers. They were amazed I was going.

Hi Tom,

I also thinking replace 12 Mono with 9 Freeride foil kite . How do you find it power wise - do you get same low end?. I dont need anything bigger than 12 Lei on Onda.
many thanks

Tomas

I am talking about Hydrofoiling now, I'm 75 kg naked. But kiting in 3-2 fullsuit, booties, gloves impact vest, helmet. I'm probably 85 kg loaded.
On moses fluente 590 wing.
I was out today again in 10-12 knots on 25 m lines on 9m Hyperlink UL.
Others were on 17 m kites on surfboard, skims and big tts plowing.
I was perfectly powered.
A friend I am coaching to learn Hf on Lf Fish is on 12m Mono. He's just started to fly, but he's sining and having a bit of low end trouble but still manages to get flying.
I have Only 3 sessions so far on HL.
But based on this, yes 9m Hyperlink UL is replacing my 12 and 9 Mono.
If you are 85+kg, I would get 12 Hyperlink or 12 soul.
In my region, winds are super flucky and unpredictable under 10 knots. Can be 4-10 knots. Then next wind is 10-14. So 9 is working well so far.
I think I will start to hunger for more low wind power and want to have 13m Chrono 3 on short lines.
And now I am so in love with smooth power I am thinking of a 7m Hyperlink..

Today wind died and kite dropped in water and I was in 100cm water. It tacos, and rolls. I'm ready for sea anchor...? Wind came back a bit, kite fills and is le down. so I tried reverse launch. It was so easy. Kite lifts off water with pull on rear lines very easy.
Lei would not have launched...

I Edit: dealer and other experts told me 9m Hyperlink will be Mono 12 replacement. I was very sceptical. It seems they were right, but so far, I think it is slightly less power. If they made a 10m it would be perfect replacement... But with skill and long lines 9m is same. It has way higher top end, and is super smooth compared.
I will not go back to lei for foiling unless a lot of wind.

Many thanks,

Im 90kg - Moses Onda 633. I also think 9-10 is it. Sonic 2 11 is too strong for 633.

Tomtom,
If you get a 9m Hyperlink, make sure you get a bar with 20+5 m extensions. I've flown on both 25 and 20 m and it is good on both. Definitely allows you to change the range.
And the 3 pig tail knots on the rear lines allow 100mm length change and range adjustment, and depower cleat with another 150mm changes power too. Interesting thing is that at shortest rear lines and longest rear lines( on pig tail) kite never flutters or has change of behaviour except power range is changing. Lei I have flown don't have this range of adjustability, kite will either start stalling or flutter a lot and perhaps lose steering control.

I really want to get an Onda 633. Have to save up for it...We only gave really small wind waves. and am concerned it will mean just more stuff, choices to make, I'll waste time switching around and not know what to take on a travel..
