...but now the Soul, which does have a warranty, is made out of the same materials. Does that mean the Sonic Race and Sonic 2 will now come with the 12-month repair warranty like Flysurfer's other kites?

Of course not, you have to "upgrade" to get warranty

No race products by Flysurfer, neither kites nor bars had any warranty in the past but good-will.
I am Ok with it.

Number of things, material or coating may not be the same even if the marketing says they are. Soul is a slower kite so less likely to achieve speeds where damage will occur. Internal construction may be different, which is the main point of failure in foils. Bridles on Soul will be stronger. Soul will be cheaper to produce and also repair so cheaper for Flysurfer to cover warranty. Marketing of a freeride kite more likely has expectations of a warranty by the consumer where as race and high performance less so. I would also imagine Flysurfer has put effort into developing durability more on freeride kites than race. Lastly it's very rare for non race Flysurfers to develop problems in the first year, so the risk is low for Flysurfer.

Interesting concept. In the UK you're protected by UK Consumer law and entitled to repair or refund for up to 6 years (depending on "reasonable" expected lifespan of the product), regardless of what the seller wants to say. Unless, of course, you crash it or tear it, or it fails due to fair wear and tear.

What I like about the FS warranty is it covers all damage (unless you purposely do it of course). Keeps me from being afraid to push myself and possibly damage the kite. I think this is a great ease of mind especially if you are new to foil kites.
