J/L foil for twintip, would it work?

Postby joriws » Sat Feb 25, 2017 8:38 am

Flysurfer flyrace has long adjustable centerfin. I ask would similar concept J/L shaped centerfin (non-adjustable due to loads) work.

I ask this as ppl are still trying to achieve tt hydrofoiling with long masts..

My gut feeling is no. You would lack stability

Lack stability?

Do keep in mind they also said this about J/L foils in boats which now work very well after <10yrs development.

That said, if bidirectional it seems very unlikely to be as efficient as directional setups.

Yes up J/L set ups on boats aren't bi directional and also have stabilisers fitted.

c of g of a single J foil will most likely not be in the correct position for stability on a tt design.
