Pocket board width

Postby Jyoder » Tue Aug 15, 2017 2:36 am

What's the smallest pocket board you've enjoyed? I have a diy blank I'm getting ready to glass but I'm thinking it might be too small, specifically too narrow at 40x15 inches. (100x38cm). Anyone ride one this small?

If you weigh more than 70kg/150 lbs or so, 19-20 inches would be a lot easier to waterstart and accelerate with less kite power. I wouldn't enjoy that width (or length) due to both my meager skills, and ~82kg.

Have not fully tested it yet since our season here is over, but looking forward to testing it some more:

Hi Jyoder,

I enjoyed riding my 95 x 38 cm board a lot.
My next board will be 86 x 33 cm with an optional attachable nose and the wide will be smaller as also the old micro pocket had just 33 cm in the stance area. I am 62 kg and 1,68 m.

You can also start in super light wind down to 6 knts if the wing is big enough, I have put in a video in here, where you see that the old one can even survive touchdowns:
