paypal scammer around - beware

Postby igoryak » Mon Jun 22, 2015 11:06 pm

Hi,

Look out for scammers..
Just got contacted via a scammer named alexanderwilliams1026@gmail.com

It sounded fishy, and I also found this :
http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-407-216-8174/3

This was his message:
Hello

i am Alex Williams by Name i'm buying this item for my Daughter and
due to the nature of my job and location...i will not be able to come
for inspection, i'm a very busy type as i work long hours everyday,i
have gone through your advertisement and i'm satisfied with it and i
i'm ready to pay you 400$ if you are ready to sell this item for me...

As for the payment..i can only pay via PayPal online secure payment..I
insisted on paypal because i don't have access to my bank account
online as i don't have internet banking, but i can pay from my paypal
account, as i have my bank a/c attached to it

I have a private courier agent that will come for the pick up after
the payment has been made ...so no shipping included...

You can now send me your PayPal email like this below so i can pay
inright away and also include your address in your reply.

PayPal Email Address
Full Name
All Total Cost
Contact Mobile Number
Country

If you don't have a paypal account, you can easily set up one...log on
to www.paypal.com and sign up its very easy...

once i receive the details i will go ahead with the payment and then i
will contact my shipping company after you get the payment. I will
need your home address for the item to be Picked Up by the Shipping Company..
Have a nice day.

thx for the info!

So, what happens?

If he pays via paypal...the seller has the money? Why is it a scam?

I did not continue the conversation, it sounded strange because prior to that "formal" mail, he asked is my "item" still for sale, then whats the asking price, and only then I got his patterened mail..
from what I gathered, they send a fake "paypal" reciept to victim's mail for an amount higher than the victim stated to include "shipping" expense, asking the victim to wire the shipping money to a third party shipping company for delivery handling.. And then the money goes. Or something like that.

I guess that if the victim checks his paypal account he will see that there was no initial transfer, but theres always that precantage that will go un noticed..

I think the scam goes like this:

They pay you 'for good or services'.
They pick up the item, so you can't upload tracking info.
Then they claim to PayPal that you never sent them the item and get the money back.

If you sell remotely through PayPay, ask to be paid as 'send money to friend and family'. That way, there is no way the buyer can claim he didn't receive the item.

If you get paid 'for good or services', the buyer gets the 'buyers protection' and the sellers gets charged 3%.
If you, as a seller, want to be protected as well, the buyer has to have a 'verified shipping address', you have to ship the item to that address and after your shipped the item, upload the tracking information, and better if you ship with a signature confirmation at delivery, so at least you prove that you shipped something.

Yeah Paypal need to get on top of this. I had it recently, it weren't a scam the guy was just a prick but Paypal took the money out of my account without any warning or asking any questions. As it happens I had immediately transferred the funds to my bank acc upon receiving payment so the fuckers couldn't touch it but it just meant my Paypal account went into the black and I couldn't use it until I cleared the debt. Fortunately after about a month of retarded back and fourth messages Paypal agreed he was a prick and restored my account.

Well, if you had the amount on PayPal they would just freeze that amount but you can still use PayPal.
