Good to know. Kinda sucks because I have tried to buy stuff remotely on Craigslist and people are so freaked of scammers that it's hard to convince seller you are legit.

As a buyer I have asked to pay with PayPal to get buyer protection....and even offered to pay the buyers 3%. But then you really start to look fishy! ;-)

I've had an email from him too, just now. He was asking if my Flexifoil Hooligan Pro, Flexifoil 10.5 Blade and Flexifoil Proton were still for sale. Strange combo. Knew something was up.

I have STOPPED accepting paypal unless they send payment as "Money to Friends and Family"

Here is why ...

Sold a harness, buyer said it was not as described, I said you got exactly what was in the 6 pictures you saw. They did a chargeback through her credit card company. When it was escalted to a claim with paypal I wrote paypal and basically said I am protected as a buyer because I shipped it according to ALL of paypal's criteria for Seller Protection (yes with delivery confirmation and receipt)

And guess what?! Her credit card company gave paypal a chargeback and paypal automatically put a hold on my money and they charged me a $20 chargeback fee (because they said they fought the chargeback on my behalf however I have received no supporting documentation as to what they sent the credit card company to fight the chargeback)

I continue to accept paypal BUT only accept money sent as Friends and Family and IMO so should everyone else.

Chargebacks are the new pathway for thieves to steal from us and apparently we have NO protection

OS

Payment as friend or family; protects the seller, not the buyer.
Your best bet as a buyer is to not use a bank account, use a credit card to give you another layer of protection.
Anyone know of a good alternative to paypal, preferably something that doesn't charge as much.
Anyone tried any of these options:
Dwolla
Skrill
Google Wallet
Payoneer
Payza
Stripe
WePay
2CheckOut
ProPay
Click2Sell
Braintree
Selz
E-junkie
Applepay

For an ebay alternative, what are they? Preferably something that doesn't charge as much.
Anyone tried any of these options:
ebid.net
bonanza.com
bidstart.com

For a craigslist alternative, Anyone tried any of these options:
ebayclassifieds.com
pawngo.com
recycler.com
Oodle.com
U-exchange.com
Adoos.com
Hoobly.com

Accept offer, give fake pickup address, mail tracked empty letter to paypal address for tracking number, win win win.
