We just received our dealer package for Slingshot and it appears they are offering a limited supply of slingshot snowboards!

I'm wondering if anyone has used, tested, seen one of these and can give us a report?

no dude....I dont think so. Slingshot may make a couple of boards just for team riders and photoshoots and image stuff like that, but they aren't making any plans to enter the snowboarding market. I think that's a pretty well established market with plenty of board brands already.

A kite snowboard is not like a normal snowboard. Most of the snowboards on the market have considerable sidecut which leads to the tip and tail dragging if you want to go in a straight line on edge (the board wants to turn.) Most of the snowboards out there that don't have sidecuts are race boards and are very thin, causing heal drag. If there is a depth to the snow it isn't much of an issue. If it is hardpack, skis work much better.

I think this is an untapped market. Kitesnowboarding will take off it's just a matter of time. Right now it's still mostly exwindsurfers. Once the youth market gets exposed to it, and realizes they can do it on any lake/field, with 5 times the result of any half pipe, it will grow like the plague. Here in the mIdwest we expect the winter numbers to quickly surpass the kitesurfing numbers.

There are a few manufacturers making snowkite boards. Eskape has two sizes, which hopefully will be in the states soon. Fanatic has one, though it is only sold in Europe. Rumors have it that Takoon may have one coming out. I am hoping Slingshot jumps on this one. First to market, does wonders for market share. It fits their brand image as well.

i hope slingshot hit it hard, i've only one snowboard now but i'd definately get a kite specific one.

kitesurfing with hills and drop offs, thats just insane, you know it makes sense.

I checked into it a while back and didn't realize people responded. Johnny's right. Slingshot is re-marketing boards made by another manufacturer. I've been told I can get some, but only a few for the whole winter. Most likely "team rider" boards like Johnny says. I can't remember the manufacturer's name but it was told to me. Anyway, sorry for the confusion.

loose the italian kite surf board company are also doing kite specific boards, and there heritage in handmade snowboards is excellent.

I heard that a German kite/kiteboard manufacturer King is also doing kitesnowboards.
