I've got a Mosquito Pro 9+ that I wanted to try and get it more low end. I've read strings about opening up the zippers and expanding the vents for land but I was wondering if anyone has done more major sugery on one to make it more of a dedicated land/snow kite. What I was thinking was to put more even vents in the front so that it was more like an open cell foil. I'd do this on the cells that do not have a zipper or vent on them now. Any suggestions?

My other option is to sell it. If your interested $150 takes it.

What is now your low end?
The 9+pro is any way the low wind mashine!
The kite need speed, that's all, then pull like a truck!

It does work very well and pulls better than my 7.2 blade but I'm trying to get it to inflate as easily as the blade as well as stay up during a lull.

Well, I understand,
Fist take the "condom" vents out, ths will help
and you get close to land kite performance.
Keep the kite in movment, thats all.
Are you still using the inflateble tubes inside?

I took the bladders out and normally fly it with the zippers open as well. It's still not up to par with a flexi so I was looking at doing something more permanent than that. I was thinking I could cut out additional vents and covered them with mesh.

Does opening the "valve intakes" on any "water-relaunchable kite" make it act more like an open-cell kite. I've thought about doing this to my old foil kites, but wondered if it would just result in them flying badly????

Hi,

I also have an old Mosquito 9+, but haven´t used it since I got a Psycho. Paid about €150. Have been planning to sell it, but haven't gotten around to fixing a few broken bridle lines.

Anyway, about modifications. I never used the inflatable bags, seems like very few people did. Also cut away condom thing, so it´s now open behind the mesh. Also got rid of the brake arrangement. Now it´s a two line kite.

Someone adviced me to make some more internal holes. Sound like a good idea, but I never tried it.

Now, I think I'm going to keep it as a backup winter kite. Have also been thinking about experimenting with some new depower system, which would require rebridling. Maybe something inspired by the FS MultiWAC.

Have fun,

/Daniel
