US KITEFREEZE POSTPONED

Postby Windancer » Sat Jan 24, 2004 6:08 am

The event has been postponed to the end of Febuary. The conditions are too uncertain for next weekend. We appologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We will be having a free ride session next weekend. If the conditions are not adequate here we will travel to find them. If you are one your way to the Semnoz event in Jackson, stop by on your way and ride.

Windancer...I'm amazed it's being cancelled? On Feb 7th and 8th we have Kites on Ice in Madison, WI which draws over 100,000 people and this year, snowkiting will be much bigger. Our ice is very thick and we have a little snow, more to come...

What's up with your conditions?

Because up until yesterday Lake Minnetonka was a nice big sheet of ice that now basically has a dusting of snow with no base. We have a storm coming but with the deadline so close they had to make a call and well there ya have it...

Basically, the Minneapolis metro and much of MN has had a snow drought up until...well, TOMORROW!! (fingers crossed!!) :thumb:

Lets hope for a change for the better....the white gold will be a gift!

Brainerd area has a forecast of 16-22 inches through Monday...YEAHH!! Jus-j-j-jus...BRAIING IT!! Long overdue for us Minnesotan's.

Later,

Jason

Jason,

Thanks for the update. Man that sucks. I thought all the snow was hitting you and places North of here, but I guess not. We finally got 2 inches the other day, but still need more. Hope this front lays down a good base.
Take care,
Bob

Thanks Jason for Replying.

He's right the conditions were just too uncertain for the event. It was a very hard call to make though with people coming in from out of the country we had to make sure we could offer favorable snow conditions...wind is another matter.

Very unseasonal to not have snow cover from Nov-April.

Hopefully it will still be a great event in Feb.

THE NEW DATES are: FEB. 27th, 28th and 29th

See you then.

Mad Town is my alma mater. Love that town. Might need to get down for your event. Sounds like a visual fantasy.

Tighe,

For sure give me a heads up if you're coming into town. I'm going to post a NEWS description on Kiteforum in the next few days giving the details. That's cool that you went here. So did I and I came back.
A foot of snow would do us all some good.
later,
Bob

Vermont Kite Storm is on Feb 27-29th 2004

Postby Windzup » Sun Jan 25, 2004 4:15 pm

What are the chances of rescheduling the MN Kitefreeze for March 5-7 like originally planned?

The Vermont Kite Storm is already happening on February 27-29th.

It would be way cool to be able to attend both events. MN should have plenty of snow by then.

Just my thoughts.
