Hello - we have moved the site just down the road to the Sand Bar State Park Access (north side). This is an excellent launch area with lots of parking, safe spectating areas and tons of open space - especially to the West for the forecasted breeze. It should be great for families with plenty of snowman making opportunities and colorful kites taking up the sky!

Hope to see you there.

Break out your sunglasses and sunscreen, we're looking at sunshine and a virtual heatwave for the first Vermont Kitestorm this weekend Feb 28-29!

In order to accommodate the forecasted Westerly breeze, we have moved the venue to the North side of the causeway - park at the Sand Bar State Park North Access (last right turn before the causeway going west).

We are also excited to have Ultra Nectar kicking in some goodies to give away (they are the only company making snowkite-specific winter gear)...

and to announce the After the Storm Party will be at RiRa's on Lower Church Street in Burlington. We have control of the big screen from 9-10pm and will be fueling the fire from the day with kite action from all over the world before the live music starts. Wear your stormboarding sticker (which you get during the day) and chill with micro-brew pints at a special rate.

Here is the plan...tell your buddies and see you at the Kitestorm!

What: VERMONT KITESTORM

Where: Sand Bar State Park: Northeast side of the causeway

When: Sat Feb 28-Sun Feb 29 from 11-5

Who: Riders, kiters, surfers, sailors, families…all are welcome

How $: None…bring a little for a burger on the ice or a kite to take home but all events are free

More info: call Rachael at Stormboarding: 802-496-9691; rachael@stormboarding.com, http://www.stormboarding.com

All weekend:
-free intro to power kite clinics
-intro to snowkite clinics
-jump clinics
-Ozone kite demos
-Kitestorm Kite specials - save some cash and leave flying
-prizes to be won - register when you arrive and be in to walk away with more than just a winter tan!

Families welcome...bring your ski/boarding helmets and gear.

Think breeze,

rzm

Brian,
This site does not have any of the park buildings open at this time of the year. It should be warm enough to tote kids around in a sled. If you have 4 wheel drive, you could park out on the ice and leave the kids to wreck your car interior.

THere is a great sandwich shop at the other end of the causeway, and a restaraunt that sort of overlooks the site (3/4 of a mile away).

That great sandwich shop is actually coming to us on Saturday and will be grilling from 12-2! They will also be doing a Kiter's Breakfast special Sunday at their deli- they are called Afternoonies and are at the southwest end of the causeway.

We are going to try to keep the ice clear of cars (as much as possible) to keep hard metal obstacles away from the riders but there will be lots of parking in the State Park access area.

We're also psyched to anounce that RED BULL is coming Saturday before the big air-trick competition to further pump up rider's energy AND we have some jib rails coming from RIDIN' HIGH.

Pray for wind. This high pressure is sure pretty, but its kind of anoying. Need to get the flow going again.

Rachael,
The Kitiestorm was tremendous. Well done. I could not believe how many people came in for the event. At times there were 20 or so kiters ripping it up. It ceratainly was a hit for the hundreds of gawkers. The wind was excellent on Sunday, caping off a great weekend. THanks for pulling this off. Hopefully it will become an annual event!

Rachael,
The event was a blast ...it was great to share stories and tech info with all the kiters along with enjoying a few magic hat's at the party at RiRa's Saturday night. Thanks again for bringing all the kindred wind worshipers together at such a great venue....oh and the sailing was fantastic also! Cheers to you!

Yeah it was great to see all the different kites flying on the snow covered lake and have an event where the wind decides to show up. I saw a few cameras, anybody have any images to show?
Rachel, great job :thumb:
