Using straps on snowboard ?

Did anyone try to use straps (like the one we use on the water) for snowbaord:?:

It seems that it can have a lot of benefit such as easy in and out for kite relunching and also it can
solve the problem described under Legs muscles get tired quickly when using snowboard. I had same muscles
problem when using wakeboard style board with high biniding and when I
switch to footsraps i never got this problem again.

Are you able to have enough control over the board with foot straps? I would think that edging would be much more difficult, since you can leverage against the back of the bindings. Do you ever lose the board?

I tried a set of Flow bindings which have a foot strap like setup for the front, and a flip up heel piece (cam locks into place). Very nice for dicey launches...you just step in, ride away from shore etc. then flip up the cams.

I tried the flow bindings and liked them too - comfortable and easy to get into.

Straps would probably work fine in powder conditions but I don't see how you could set a good edge on hardpack without the extra leverage you get from high-back bindings.

No, No, No,- maybe on a big powder day, but water and snow are not the same consistancy. Straps work very well on water because of the ability to sink in and provide resistance with the surface area of the board. Snow requires a binding which enables the rider to leverage the board on edge via the high back. I have seen a home-made version of the strapped snowboard and tried it. Not good at all. I reccomend Flow binding, full foot support and very simple Cam entry, flick the hinge up and ready to go. Fast & smple. One hand contoling the kite, the other bucking in within seconds. Safer in my opinion.

Hello I have a set of FLOW FL55 and love them for
there easy entry and exit,but I under stand the strap
Idea. I found that I couldn't point my forward leg the
way I wanted to,but with the backs down It was
comferable and My high backed boots gave me pleanty of
leaverage . The only problem is that when I got air I
would loose the board so like every piece of gear i
have I modified it. I removed the backs of the
bindings and replaced them with a zelcro strap to keep
my boots in and yet still have the quick and easy
entery and exit that I liked about the flows works
great for me. I ride On every thing from hard pack/ice
to 100cm of powder but my favoret conditons is wind
blown hard pack onon a powder base, lots of grip yet
forgiving in the landings. By the way I live @ Wasaga
Beach in the great lakes snow belt and have been
blessed by 180cm of snow in the month of january alown
