Anyone snowkited in the Anchorage area? The land of 3 million lakes! Someone must be hitting it! The Turnagain Arm sees a lot of wind!
Just curious!

I guess I'll be the first! I doubt it though! Pass the word, I'm looking for info.

Hello Noof, I have hitch hiked round Alaska in the dead of winter and I saw areas which would be amazing to go kiting, there were very few daylight hours though so you would have to be prepared not to go too far from your car.
Good luck.

Hey Noof,
There are a few snowkiters in Alaska, including a shop in Anchorage that sells Ozone Snowkites.
Ozone has a Team rider that spends the Spring through Fall Snowkiting out of the Juneau area. There is a snow-route that goes for miles from Juneau up to Skagway, and takes 2-3 days to Snowkite-Tour. Cody took a trip to Mt. Fairweather that had some gnarly winds and came back with some great pics, some are on his website.
Check out Cody's website at

Thanks Brian for the link. Beautiful photos. I hope to ride with you again when you head up here to Northern Michigan in January. I enjoyed riding the loaner Ozone the day you visited. We should have some great new spots for you to try and will certainly have plenty of lake options in January. See you then!

Right on Noof,
We'll see you in January, unless you want to come ride with us sooner on our home turf at Skyline Drive, here in Utah.
4 feet and counting, more on its way this weekend.
Windzup,
Brian Schenck
