Kitestorm 2005: February 26-27, Burlington, Vermont

Postby stormboarding » Mon Jan 17, 2005 5:50 pm

Start making plans for KITESTORM 2005. This year we are very psyched to see more riders, more demos, more prizes and more fun than last year. Here are the details with more partners to be announced in the coming weeks:

Date/Times: Feb. 26-27, 11am-5pm both days

Location: Sand Bar State Park, Milton, Vermont (15 min. North of Burlington)

Cost: Free

What to bring: Warm boots, your skis/boots/boards, helmet, layers of clothing, kiting gear if you already ride, camera and $ for lunch/hot chocolate (available on the ice)

Highlights:

-Speediest rider of the weekend will win a new 13m Peter Lynn Bomba
-Intro to powerkite and snowkite clinics for new riders
-Jump and trick clinics for more experienced riders
-Freestyle competition/exhibition both afternoons
-Demo 2005 Peter Lynn and Ozone kites
-Ski and board demos throughout weekend
-Music on the ice, plenty of space to watch and ride
-After party featuring the day's photos/films Saturday night
-Prizes from Stormboarding, Peter Lynn, Ozone, Dakine, Ultra Nectar, Sugarbush, Kiteworld Magazine, 92.1 KISS FM + more to come

Accommodation: Best Western: $69.95/night. Call 800-371-1125 and use the code: Kitestorm for that rate. This hotel is right off the highway at the Burlington exit, 15 to Kitestorm site and 5 min by car to downtown Burlington, free WiFi, hot tub, they put cookies out after dinner and it is where the majority of the riders up for the Kitestorm will be staying.

Go Rachael,
This was a great event last year. What surprised me the most was how many people turned out. I am used to being out with 2 or 3 other kiters, but there must have been 50 kites flying at times.

The ice is about a foot thick now. Just need the dump!!!

Thanks Cold Island.

We're going for more kites in the air this year!

I was psyched to see that we now have all the riding space we need on both sides of the causeway (ice fishermen already ripping around on the ice in their trucks North and South).

Think snow,
