anyone know who, where and when the first kiteskier was "born." i'm curious where and when this sport originated.

I can attest to seeing some "skudding" in 1986 in Erie Pa....that was the evil intro to 2 line stunt kites for me..

Hey Bob, talk to Steve Shapson. I think he'll be at at KOI. He was one of the first kite skiers.

saw steve, but didn't talk abou the origination. we missed you there this year. the event went off the hook on saturday. so so many people watching the competition and we all had an awesome time both day and night...

The famous Norwegian expiditioneer Frithjof Nansen used a kite (or a "ski sail") to cross the North Pole some time around year 1900.
