What country? There are several Lapplands to choose from. Sweden, Norway and Finland all have counties called Lappland and also the Sapmi area is sometimes called Lappland. That Lappland is part of Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia and is 388 350 km² (germany is 357 121 km²)

You may want to be a bit more specific on where you are planning to go in order to get accurate info

For sure, there is a lot of snow, open terrain and some winds in the "area" during winter season... =)

If you are planning Lapland in Finland you can find spots allover where there are lakes big enough. if you wanto to go on the fells, for example there are spots close to ski resorts in Ylläs and Pallas.

Very special area is the area around lake Kilpisjärvi on the border of Finland, Sweden and Norway.

As AndKite said it would be good to know more specific where you are planning to go to give more specific location information.

remember that above the arctic polar circle the days are short or dark ... so, it's not so much about freely kiting in winter. better in springtime.

if you stay below the polar arctic circle, instead, it's light also in winter time.
