Looking into booking a snowboard/snowkite trip next april to norway. Got the wife and 2 kids comming, so looking for a ski resort to snowboard in the mornings, then i will get the kite out in the afternoon. I know Haugastol is the mecca, but too far away from geilo ski resort as i wont have a car!! So ideally a ski resort that you can access a kite area from the lifts, Trysil looks as though it would work looks a great beginners snowboard area(wife and kids) anyone know if trysil is a good snowkite area??? open to suggestions of any other areas... thanks jon

you can snowkite at the top of one of the ski-lifts at Geilo. actually they had some snowkite kickers built up there for a snowkite freestyle event in 2009. some more photos and the exact location in the link below:

You can snowkite beside one of the lifts in Fageråsen / Trysil Høyfjellssenter (which have excellent family and beginners pistes by the way). Ride up with the lift, ski down a bit in the piste and then rig your kite just beside the piste. Your wife and kids can ski this piste and have a look at you when you are snowkiting.
I have written about Trysil; for more info with pictures and maps over the snowkite area, see:

great info. Live in Sweden and thinking of taking trip to kite snowboard this winter.
Places close to lifts is good if wind is not blowing.
Trysil, Geilo sound good. Geilo is close to Hardangervidden, if you have a car.
But that drive from Oslo must be brutal in winter, and have to get to Oslo from southern Sweden first.
Hows March?
any tips and contacts welcome. PM me
