So the north country gang of Jan, Jackie, Ben, Liz, Chris and myself met at Hanno's on Sunday, for the "second" shot at the Tug this season. Conditions hadn't improved since Saturday, probably deteriorated slightly. Wind was still mostly West, only at maybe 10 - g15. With the sticky, heavy snow, it made for difficult riding, if any at all( I just flew my 8M static for practice), but Jan and Jackie worked with Liz and Chris, and got them to "Take Off!" on their snowboards and Jackie's 6M Access, so the song fits. Enjoy!

Are the dates for the festival set? A few of us from the real great white north may come south to join in the fun.

Any hotels with a bar and restaurant you locals would suggest?

Stan

@bigdog, here is a link to the adirondack/tughill website. It has links to available lodging. As to a hotel with bar/restaurant, you may have to check Watertown, NY. It is only 30-45 min or so from the festival sites. http://www.adirondackstughill.com/index.php

edit: I've eaten, and imbibed, at the Timberview, good food/fun, but as I'm local, I've never stayed at any of these places. I will say that, as Lewis county is also a snowmobile destination, it pays to look and book early, because a lot of places book up in the winter here.

Hi everyone! I live in the tri-lakes area(a few hours east of Tug Hill) and would love to come and check it out. I was a downhill ski racer in my younger years, and now I am a snowboarder. I have never touched a power kite, but would love to get into the sport. I have done a ton of reading about it, and would love to come and see what snow kiting is all about! Please let me know!

Cheers!

Joe

Can I ask one of you tug hill locals to give some directions to the kite friendly sites? I see it mostly along route 177 but not sure which fields are OK.

Cheers
