They are all good. Little bit of drifting on back roads, but now that the wind has died down everything has cleared up.

those southern winds are Gusty@ the deer farm!
tomorrow promises northwest to west wind ,...
ten to twenty knots,...
perhaps a good reason to go coastal
like Chaumont or the infamous Sandy Island.

Sandy islands peaks my interest cause i always ride sandy hook at home

I made the trip from Buffalo and should have stayed home. Gusty winds and NO on site recommendations for various directions left us to try and die. Nice effort but frankly short on one of the most important details of kiting (local input). I did check out the other sites as well.

for a good time,
follow the ice fisher-men!

there was six of us at the sandy pond location
parking @ the irish wig wam lot,
LOTS of space there
and ice fishing!
the wind was not free from occasional surges
i won't call it gusty cause i has a great time,
on the 10 meter frenzy...
the snow was decently packed and about shin deep
just a few ice patches, wind was northwest and west west by the end of the day
we did take a break @ about 12:30 for the white out
which was preceded by some dark up-wind clouds
my second session was windier!
i rode it out to 4:00 on the 7 meter frenzy

Sorry Salvino,

You must have arrived later in the day. The morning session was awesome! Sorry about the locals input, I asked around and they turned me to field #5 on the map. It was great! Low pressure started to move into the area in the afternoon, so the wind started acting up. I don't think there was a field that was 'perfect' for conditions, but we made the best of it. Thanks Jan, Jackie, Bob, Mike and the rest of the gang for putting this on, what an awesome day!

Here are the highlights I came up with on:

Cheers!

Joe

@salvino, really sorry you didn't get any help while here. I was at the Deer Ranch (headquarters), until around 11:00 am Sunday morning. From 9:30 until about 10:00 I was out trying the site, but the powder was too deep for my board skills. From 10:00 to 10:30 I was standing at the top of the hill getting interviewed by local newspaper. Jan and Jackie arrived, and we went inside the tent, so the reporter would be more comfortable. When we came out, I found my kite had blown halfway down the field, and I went to retrieve it. The whole time we were there, only one person stopped, and that person only asked for a map, and where to go. We directed this person to site#5, as that was where everyone was flying. Registration was advertised to be at 9:00 am, and we were there until at least 11:00. We do enjoy having people come from outside the area, but we also have other obligations while the festival is going on. At around 11:00 we all went to the #5 site, and spent the rest of the day there. Again, sorry you didn't have a good time, and we locals get together just about every weekend, and try to post ahead of time where we will be, should you want to make the trip again.

Shoe sorry I didn't get to talk to you much.
I'm glad you got to see the spider in action. I did a little better at Porterdale on sunday but I still need longer and fatter skis for that bottomless powder. I'll get up to Saranac some time before Kitestorm see you then.
