Chaumont Bay Today

Postby tikayak » Sun Dec 26, 2010 11:44 pm

Had a good day with Jackey, Bob and New kiter Joe from Saranac Lake NY. The wind was out of the north about 15 and flat conditions worked great for Joe and Bob on the Buggie. Needs more snow cover but worked out ok in the upper bay near boat launch. Our new Clam Thermal worked out really well with no sweat inside and the Temps out side where around 15 and colder with wind chill.

Thanks Jan, Jackie and Bob for letting me join you, it was an awesome day! Jan, that clam shell is magical, I especially enjoyed the glass floor you had installed for us, very classy! This is the first video I have ever uploaded so I hope it works.

Cheers!

Joe

I would have been there but I literally had to go over the river and thru the woods to grandmas house.
I knew it might be good and you guys just confirmed it. Winds look good for tuesday and I think I got someone to cover my shift so I might get my first run on Chaumont bay tuesday. Shoe how fast did you go?

I was all wrapped up in my first time out, I forgot to turn on my GPS! I didn't get crazy, I was just happy not to land on my face... too much. Jan set us up in a great spot with smooth ice (except the far side of the bay was a little chopped up) and good constant wind. I hate to say it, but you missed a great day!

Cheers!

Joe

Made it to the bay yesterday just as the wind died to near zilch. Packing up about 2:30 the wind picked up and Morgan got in some good runs 27mph tops, first time on long skis and first time with the 5.3 viper , the kids a freak of nature. I broke a ski in the first 15 minutes on my sled.
We put in up Sal,,,,, point where the ice fishermen get on the ice. I'd like to get up there again when
when conditions are perfect its such a huge area any direction would be good. No pictures , two laptops down and the old clunker Ive never tried to tap into.
Flew Oneida today low to mid 30's mph smooth black ice with a few teeth rattlng rough patches thrown in to test ones aerodynamic fortitude.
