HIGH LEVEL SNOWKITING competitions ALL ACROSS QUEBEC!
For the fifth consecutive year, «La Coupe du Québec» of snowkiting is organizing three grand events across the province of Quebec. On January 15th and 16th, 2011, at Venise-in-Québec, in the Montérégie-Lake Champlain region in partnership with René Sénécal Kite School and Venise Aquatic Club (Denis Bigeault); on January 29th & 30th , 2011, at the Baie des HAHA, in the City of La Baie in the Saguenay region in collaboration and partnership with Michel Montminy and Sonya Guay : Kitebroker; and the grand finals which will be held on February 12th and 13th, 2011, at Lake of Two Mountains in Oka, in the Metropolitain region in collaboration with Normand McGuire and National park of Oka.
The 2011 Quebec Cup for the Quebec Championships of snowkiting are speed races competed on different types of courses with the wind and space conditions always providing an interesting show for the whole family to enjoy. The championship races will be of the triangle type and its variations as well as the long distance race.
These three events of snow kite racing organized by Quebec Cup allows for both professional and adrenalin seeking amateurs and the courses the opportunity to meet and benefit from each other. At the Finals there will be crowning of one male and one female champion for the ski and snowboard categories! We expect three weekends filled with activities and festivities and the best snow kiting competitors!
World Champion, Simon Gill, who also holds the Quebec Cup 2009 and 2010 championship in the ski category will be back to defend his position. The unbeatable Cuban-Laval resident William Acosta who has been the Quebec Cup Snowboard category champion for the past four years will be there as well as the women’s Champion Françoise Harvey! Other great names such as Normand McGuire, Frédéric Chouinard, Bruno-Pierre Perron, Michel Simard, Dominique Robichaud, etc, and more than fifty other participants are expected!
All persons adept at this sport are welcome to participate in the events and the general public can help out at these spectacular and technical races. Admission to the public is free, and participants may register on site each weekend. The competitions are open to all amateurs and professionals.
Medals will be awarded for the three best results in each category and more than $15,000.00 in price and money will be distributed between the winners in each of the categories forming part of the Quebec Cup 2011 competitions and all the participants. For 2011, two new classifications: ParaskiFlex (overall) and Juniors category (10 – 15 years old) in addition to the following categories already listed and recognized: men’s ski, men’s snowboard, women’s ski, women’s snowboard, «Sportive» (new competitors).
