replace the spreader bar on access XC harness?

I have a Dynabar that I'd love to put on my ozone access XC harness but I can't figure out how to remove the stock spreader bar without undoing stitches. Anyone have any tips? I tried feeding the strap that connects the bar to the harness back through the clip, but where it's folded over and stitched, it's just too thick to fit. I think I could probably get it through if I removed the stitches and unfolded it, but I don't want to do that if I don't have to.
