What's the verdict on the electric skate boards?

Postby slackercruster » Wed Aug 17, 2011 6:59 pm

Been riding gas Motoboards for 15 years. They are fun on flats, but a no-go for up hills.

Roamboard make a slick model, but it is $2400. Was going to try a pair of E-glide boards for hills. (A/T and GI) But held off buying once I learned there is no gauge to tell how much battery charge left. They are heavy 50 pound boards to hike back home with...I'm too old a cruster for that.

Have any of you electric board riders run out of juice on a ride?

What do you like or hate about your e-boards?

You realize this is a kiteforum right??

seen gas an electric scooters but not a skateboard. for 2400$ you could get a sweet setup with a kite that requires no help from any motors :D

You don't need power if you gotta kite hills are no prob down or up.

Yep know it is for kites. Can't do kites in urban areas, I'm into lots of stuff. Yep, $2400 is too high for me, unless lotto cooperates. Just wondering if any kiters run e-boards?

I remember in the 1970's when they invented polyurethane wheels, the very next year some guy invented the MotoBoard, I can't believe people still ride them!

Thought for sure the motor skate board died out just like the motorized unicycle (the FlyRad) and the motorized surfboard (the WaveJet).

Pretty sure kiters have no need for a motor, when it's not windy enough for the big kites you can find us in the parking lot with a trainer kite and a skateboard.
