Is this a new version of the good old ski sail (pic below) that has been used since the 1990's for crossing Antarctica etc?

Unfortunately, my french is not good enough to understand what the guy was telling, so obviously I must have missed all the advantages he refered to in his video.
It seems that it is a short of cross over from the parapente ski sport :http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1252062/s ... parapente/
It is my experience that short lines make the kite very nerveous and difficult to handle...the only way to compensate for that is to shape/design the kite that it becomes slow to react.
From the video it seems this kite does not have a high aspect ratio, so the kite is easy to handle but its upwind performance is most likely not as good as compared to other kites.
In addition to that, with such ultra short lines, wind speed at the ground is less then higher up in the air, thus the kite may not take advantage of that.
Kitelooping to build up speed is also not possible.
If it was my choice, I would prefer a smaller kite on longer lines.
