Moister build up!!

Postby nicor » Sun Feb 05, 2012 3:25 am

I sweat up a storm under my jacket and pants, which is a little uncomfortable. Looking to upgrade my gear.

What outfits have the best system to minimize or deal with moisture???

My buddy has some Helly Hansen stuff which seems to work much better than mine, but I suspect there are lots of options. I just have no clue on this one.

Yeah it's amazing how fast you can overheat when snowkiting.

The key is to layer, beginning with some good polypro base layer (actually I prefer merino wool)... a parka with pit zips is good, and good breathable fabric helps a lot. Once your pumped up, rigged and then ride for a few minutes you can usually lose a layer of fleece and start ventilating. You just have to adapt on the fly sometimes.

Dress lite but carry extra layer if you need it. Don't wanna get wet out there! JR

Agreed, layering is key.

Synthetic or wool wicking base layer. NO COTTON.

Fleece or some other light insulating layer.

Breathable wind proof outer hard or soft shell preferably with venting abiltity.

I wear a poly base, with a NF Denali vest, a softshell jacket and hardshell pant both of which vent and it keeps me warm and dry 99% of the time. If I couldn't vent it would not work so well.

I basically dress like I would for XC skiing. You work a lot harder snowkiting than alpine skiing.
