Aboards - reverse or escape

Postby nicor » Fri Jan 17, 2014 3:30 pm

Will be upgrading my snowboard and decided to go with kite specific board since kiting is all I really do these days.

I kite mostly on frozen lakes, which is usually hard packed or icy, rarely powder.

Will get one of the aboards since my local shop carries them. They have the reverse and escape.

Any advise in which shape works better on these conditions. Leaning to the escape

In those conditions I would go for the Escape.
It is a full camber board, and has more grip on ice.

The Reverse is a Rockerboard and has its tips lifted upwards, freer feeling, better to jib with and ride powder with, the Camber boards which are the boards we all have been riding for the past 30 years, are more stable and power you through turns, they track a straighter line. The difference is that camber boards make contact with the snow, and in the center are flexed upwards, rocker boards make contact in the middle and bend upwards so the tips dont make contact.

I hope I have given a good explanation.

Go for the Escape. :thumb:
